Where It All Began

A Kitchen Built on Hokkien Heritage

Hokkien Chow 福建炒 was founded with a clear purpose: to bring the honest, full-flavoured cooking of the Hokkien Chinese people to Makati City. Located along Pablo Ocampo Sr. Extension in the quiet San Antonio Village, the restaurant serves as a dedicated outpost for a culinary tradition that stretches back centuries in Fujian province, southern China. The name itself is a direct declaration — "Hokkien Chow" meaning the stir-fried dishes of the Hokkien people.

The Hokkien or Minnan community has long been a cornerstone of Chinese-Filipino culture in the Philippines. Their cuisine — known for bold use of soy sauce, rice wine, fresh seafood, and master-level wok technique — has influenced Filipino cooking for generations. At Hokkien Chow, these flavours are served in their most direct and uncompromised form: Hokkien noodles stir-fried over maximum heat, dim sum hand-crafted for each service, and rice bowls that carry the depth of slow-braised sauces.

From the first day the kitchen opened, the restaurant chose to stay small and focused rather than sprawl into generic Chinese food. Two daily service sessions — lunch from 10AM to 2PM, dinner from 5:30 to 10PM — ensure that every dish is made fresh, with the kitchen never running on reheated shortcuts. That same commitment to freshness and authenticity drives the Grab and Foodpanda delivery operations, bringing Hokkien flavours directly to the doorsteps of Makati and surrounding areas.

Our Philosophy

Three Principles We Cook By

Every dish is guided by the same values that define Hokkien cooking at its finest.

High-Heat Technique

Hokkien cooking lives and dies by wok hei — the smoky, caramelised flavour that only comes from a screaming-hot wok. We never compromise on temperature or cooking speed. Every noodle dish and stir-fry is executed at the heat intensity that Hokkien cooks have used for centuries.

Fresh Over Frozen

Our kitchen runs on daily prep, not frozen stockpiles. Ingredients for each service are prepared fresh — from dim sum wrappers to the sauces that coat our rice bowls. If it was not made today, it does not go on the plate. This discipline is non-negotiable and fundamental to every decision we make.

Rooted in Community

We are a neighbourhood restaurant serving the residents of San Antonio Village and the wider Makati community. Our dining room is open to everyone — families, office workers, and Hokkien food enthusiasts alike. Authenticity, not pretension, defines our welcome. Our Viber line and delivery platforms extend that community reach beyond our dining room walls.

Our Core Values

What Drives Us Daily

01

Authenticity Over Adaptation

We serve Hokkien food the way it was meant to be — bold, savoury, and unapologetically full of flavour, not softened for a generic audience.

02

Respect for the Craft

Wok cooking is a skill honed over years — we respect the technique, the timing, and the temperature that make great Hokkien dishes possible.

03

Daily Freshness Commitment

Every session starts with fresh prep — no overnight shortcuts, no pre-cooked shortcuts, no compromises on ingredient quality.

04

Accessibility and Warmth

Genuine food should not be intimidating — our restaurant and our staff welcome every guest with the warmth of a Chinese family kitchen.

05

Community First

We are part of San Antonio Village's fabric — a reliable neighbourhood spot where good food and honest portions bring people back again and again.
